Artist Statement
My pieces reflect slices of life that bring light, beauty and pleasure to each day. I love working with all kinds of mediums, though most often with oil and watercolor. A wide range of subject matter, my work mirrors the fluid nature of inspiration and the endless joys I find in our world.
My practice is driven by a passion for creating and collecting moments that pulse with connection, love, and beauty. From the feeling of a warm spring morning to the recollection of a faintly familiar sunset, I believe there is something worth remembering, and in turn, painting, in every simple, pleasant moment.
I am fascinated by the uniquely human characteristic of noticing beauty in all forms. In a world of endless distractions, I hope my paintings remind the viewer to remember the value in observing even the simplest wonders. I believe it is this appreciation and acknowledgement of the details of life that allow us to fully embrace the human experience.

Hi, I'm the artist!
Hi, I'm Hattie and I'm a self-taught oil painter. This website was created to not only establish a platform for me to display, share, and sell my original artwork, but also to promote an idea close to my heart: there is a place for everyone in the arts.
I enjoy landscape painting and portraits, but I have experience with a variety of subjects and styles. I also offer live event/wedding painting which you can explore further here. If you have a special moment, feeling, or memory that you want to see brought to life on a canvas, don't hesitate to reach out! I would love to discuss how my skills might be a good fit for the project you have in mind. :)
I graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Art History and English and minor in business. I currently work full-time in a corporate office but love doing art on the side!
In my free time, when I'm not painting, you might find me volunteering at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, playing tennis, knitting, reading one of the many art history books, or trying out a new local happy hour.
I love all things Impressionism, from the history to the painters to the artworks themselves, and I love incorporating the Impressionist love of nature, light, and the present moment into my own work.
Let's chat!
Shoot me a message to inquire about artwork availability, commissions, or anything else. I'm always happy to hear from you!
